Today I had a great conversation with a friend. The kind of friend that even though we don't see each other often, it's easy to pick up the phone without any hesitation. The kind of friend who it didn't even cross her mind to be upset with me for missing her baby shower and her kids first birthday party. Even though we don't see each other much these days, when we talk, it's always good.
Today though, today was real good.

Among the words spoken were offers to throw us a shower, or a dinner, or whatever
the heck we wanted for our new human (yep that's right, even after I ditched hers).  She
talked about how just because we weren't birthing a baby that it doesn't mean we should
miss out on the party, or the goods that come along with a party!

Without saying it all, she shared how she sees us adopting a baby as still having a baby.
And important. And life changing. And something that needs to be celebrated.

And no different in terms of love, or want, or excitement.

I don't think she realizes how spectacularly important the
ease and genuineness of that conversation was to me.

Thank you Brianne.

I hope you all got to fly some kites today.
